MYMUN VI Opening Speeches Due: Monday March 30th
During the upcoming MYMUN conference, all delegates will be required to make an opening speech. It is one of the most important things in any Model United Nations conference. An opening speech is where you deliver your country’s policy on the issues that will be discussed. It allows delegates to find other delegates who have similar policies on issues and consequently, find those who you will lobby with to form a resolution that will be debated.
At MYMUN, the maximum time each delegate will be given is 1 minute, not any longer. As a result, it must be informative, while being succinct. Furthermore, making it interesting and exciting will be a benefit as it helps you make a bolder impression on other delegates. You should use facts such as statistics and past efforts to support your policy. A key to delivering a good opening speech is practicing it. The more you practice, the better your speech will get. Good luck on your preparations!!!
